How many poor souls have suffered from aching bones, swollen knees, stiffening hands and undeniable pain? Depending on what study is used, estimates can run as high as 45 million Americans according to the Center for Disease Control.

David Elicker, of Warrington Township, who has had Lyme disease since 2002, was among the roughly 250 people who attended a showing Sunday of the Lyme disease documentary ‘Under Our Skin.’ Elicker has been through two treatment regiments of oral antibiotics followed by IV antibiotics.

They’re the scourge of the woods, crawling up bare ankles and squeezing their way into moist crevices where they feast on blood and spread disease until engorged.

While many people have heard of Lyme disease, many more don’t realize that ticks carry other diseases as well.
